Cardno JFNew works with lake associations, conservancy districts, watershed groups, municipalities, and other organizations to develop sound watershed management plans. These plans are used to provide a framework for watershed management decision and direction.  In most cases, plans are used to guide funding needs for state and federal grant programs for watershed management activities

The Cardno JFNew team often begins by helping organizations complete grant applications to state and federal agencies. Contact Cardno JFNew to learn more about our grant assistance work.

Once funded, Cardno JFNew develops a collaborative watershed management plan (WMP). Through a consensus-building process with stakeholders, we work with decision makers and stakeholders interested in the health of the watershed to:

  • identify issues impacting the quality of the watershed,
  • prioritize the issues based on impact and feasibility, and
  • identify alternative solutions and quantify the benefits.

We also provide a variety of services in support of plan development, including surveys of aquatic plants, macroinvertebrates, mussels, and fish; water quality analysis; and public meeting leadership.

Most importantly, we develop plans that a watershed management group can use for many purposes. Our plans meet state and federal recommendations for the essential elements of a WMP. With an approved plan, groups can obtain additional government funding for implementation activities. Cardno JFNew's experience with implementing watershed management plans, including design/build solutions, helps overcome financial constraints and provides effective and efficient solutions.
