Live stakes and fascines allow you to establish specific tree and shrub species as part of a strategy to stabilize streambanks and create natural shorelines. Sold by the linear foot, live stakes and fascines are available in 1/2 inch to 2 inch calipers. They are harvested between November and April; because they are provided live and dormant, they are available only during these months.

Live stakes and fascines are used along with seed and erosion control blankets to establish vegetation on a site.

 Live stakes were used as part of an Indiana DOT project in Pike County, Indiana:

INDOT Project 

To restore three sites associated with a construction project for I-69 in Indiana, Cardno JFNew installed 25,000 live willow stakes along with 450 acres of native seed and straw mulch, 200,000 bare root trees and shrubs, and 13,000 3-gallon container trees and shrubs.
