Bio-bricks are rooted blocks of grasses, shrubs, and forbs that quickly establish vegetation on a site. For steep slopes, newly established stream banks, and weed pressures from Phalaris arundinacea (Reed Canary Grass), bio-bricks can provide the stabilization and invasives control that is needed.
Available in 11 x 21.5 inch units, bio-bricks have established root systems, which make them particularly effective against invasive species. They can be custom grown with species suitable for a particular site. If species that spread from rhizomes, such as Spartina pectinata, are used, solid establishment should occur in one growing season.
