For the first time the USDA’s Plant Hardiness Zone Map is available as an interactive GIS-based map. This map provides the standard by which most growers determine what plants will thrive at a particular location.
In addition to this new feature, for 2012 the map has also been revised and updated to take into account a longer timescale for average winter low temperatures, elevation, and location relative to a water body.
