Rain barrels can help manage stormwater volume during significant rain events. Diverting stormwater from sewer systems helps to reduce water quality impacts, and it makes the rain water available for future use during droughts. Rain barrels can be combined with rain gardens and bioswales for a more extensive low-impact development approach to stormwater management.
