Understanding the cultural assets that may be present on a site is an important first step, whether to meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements or to support the development of a preservation plan
As part of our cultural assessment services, Cardno JFNew conducts background research, archaeological surveys, and cultural landscape inventories. We can use geophysical tools to conduct efficient and cost-effective site assessments. We may also use predictive models to better understand the potential for cultural resources in a given area.
Along with understanding cultural features of a particular place, Cardno JFNew also considers the natural resources present in and around the area to understand the relationship they may have with how people use the landscape.
Outcomes from this work may support a variety of compliance needs, including formal documentation supporting the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, cultural resource management reports, and master planning documents. Our cultural assessment and inventory work can provide the information needed to understand the role these important places play in a modern, dynamic world.
