The successful candidate for this position will implement ecological consulting projects requiring an intermediate level of skill and experience. We are seeking a candidate with excellent scientific, project management and communication skills. Projects will typically involve guiding clients through the regulatory and permitting processes associated with impacts to wetlands, streams and other regulated waterways. Wetland delineation experience is strongly desired.
This position will be responsible for overall project management of all phases of activity in accordance with JFNew project management process. Responsibilities will include: handling initial client contact through to project completion; pricing and developing proposals; implementing the project; managing the project budget and schedule; and quality assurance/quality control. This position is supported by contract and administrative staff, field technicians as necessary and senior technical and management staff.
Field work, particularly performing ecological site assessments, wetland delineations and stream assessments, will be a major component of this position. Some supervision of other staff may be required. Technical writing assignments may include: 1) project permits (404/401 wetland impacts and Construction in a Floodway); 2) grant proposals; 3) monitoring reports; 4) restoration management and/or mitigation plans; 5) wetland delineation/ determination reports; and 6) biological assessments.
B.S./B.A. in a natural science or a related field; M.S. degree in a relevant environmental discipline valued. Driver’s License required.
In addition to the formal education experience described above, a minimum four years of experience in ecological consulting field, including project management experience, is required. Good native plant identification skills strongly desired..
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required. AutoCAD; ArcView or ArcGIS skills are preferred. Knowledge of current wetland delineation methodology preferred.
