Michael Adams Presenting at 2012 Ohio Park and Recreation Association Conference and Trade ShowBack to "In The News"

February 02, 2012

From February 6 to 8 the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA) is holding its annual conference and trade show at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. This year’s conference, “Safari to Success,” showcases the best products and services available for parks and recreation professionals. The conference features keynote speaker Jack Hanna and many educational sessions from the industry’s leading experts.

On Tuesday, February 7, Cardno JFNew’s Michael Adams is presenting “Assessing Park Lands for Restoration Opportunities”. Because park districts have the responsibility of stewardship over various types of parcels, they must develop management objectives for these properties that fit within the context of the agency’s mission and values, and ensure that the park land provides multiple uses. Often factors exist that limit the fulfillment of these objectives.

In his session Michael will discuss the benefits of developing a framework for evaluating parcels for restoration. He will identify the steps that parks and recreation agencies can take to assess ecological restoration opportunities within their existing park lands or service areas, in order to develop better projects. Michael will highlight Cardno JFNew projects in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio, to illustrate this approach to park land restoration.
